FAQ

How do I clean my granite countertops?

POLISHED GRANITE is a very durable stone. Granite is much harder than marble. Granite has always been used extensively in commercial applications, such as building exteriors, interior and exterior walls and floors. Granite can withstand heavy traffic areas and can withstand most elements including excessive heat and freezing cold. Granite is approximately 95-98% stain resistant; however we use two applications of a sealer to ensure lasting life and beauty to your natural stone. Polished granite should receive the same cleaning care as polished marble, using a mild phosphate free, biodegradable liquid dish soap, soap flakes, or powder which contains no aromatics. Follow this by a thorough rinsing and drying with cotton-flannel or chamois.

Can I cut on my granite countertop?

The only thing that will cut into or scratch granite is a diamond or another piece of granite. You can be assured that common kitchen knives and utensils are no match for the absolute hardness of a granite top. So don’t worry about slicing on the countertop, the only thing that can happen is you may dull your knives.

How do you handle sink and stove areas?

After your countertops have been properly leveled, set and adhered to your cabinets, we will then use a template of your sink and stovetop for accurate positioning. Under-mount sinks (sinks that are mounted under the countertop so that the rim is not visible) are fully cut out; at this point the inside of the cutout is polished. Please allow at least 24 hours for the silicone and epoxy adhesives to set before allowing your plumber to connect the sink.
