QUICKLIST OF DOS AND DON’TS FOR YOUR NATURAL STONE
DOS
Do use coasters under glasses, especially if they contain alcohol or citrus juices.
Do dust/clean countertops, islands, vanities and floors frequently.
Do clean surfaces with mild detergent or stone soap.
Do thoroughly rinse and dry the surfaces after washing.
Do blot up spills immediately to minimize possibility of permanent damage or staining to stones.
Do protect floor surfaces with non-slip mats or area rugs to trap dirt and sand that can scratch or dull stone flooring.
Do use trivets, mats, or hot pads under hot dishes or cookware that may have oil in them.
Do use place mats under china, ceramics, silver or other objects that may scratch or dull your stone’s surface.
DON’TS
Don’t use vinegar, bleach, ammonia or other general-purpose cleaners.
Don’t use cleaners that contain acid such as lemon juice, bathroom cleaners, grout cleaners or tub & tile cleaners.
Don’t use wet or dry abrasive cleaners such as dry cleansers or soft cleansers.
Don’t use alkaline cleaners not specifically formulated for natural stone.
Don’t cut directly on your stone when working with acidic foods such as lemons, oranges, and tomatoes. Always use a cutting board. |
